Pilier de Levant - Wednesday 21st July
This route is in a fantastic situation high above the village and we took so many pictures that it has been difficult to pick out some that really show the route. We climbed another route close by, Ma, que seulement le V, a few days later which gave us a completely different view of the route and which emphasized that it really is a pillar!
The route started off with steep slabs then the climbing became harder as we gained height going from 5c at the start then two pitches of 5c+ followed by slabs and a layway on the 6a pitch.
Then it became even more interesting with a strenuous, blocky 6a+ pitch and an airy belay before the steep, blank slab of the 6b pitch and the easier but very exposed final pitch.
