La Fissure, Ailefroide - Sunday 18th July

Ailefroide boasts three hundred days of sunshine each year and for all the time we spent there this year, we experienced only a couple of showers so lots of opportunity to be out climbing.

This year we discovered that the local guide book had been updated and many new routes had been created over the past couple of years. We spent most of the time on the newer routes however we started off with the classic trad route of the area, La Fissure. Lots of chimneys and cracks to squeeze and squirm through and some short, steep walls to climb until we popped out at the top.

It was the perfect choice for a very hot day as we were climbing in some very welcome shade.
