Grand Diedre, Coir' a' Ghrunnda
After a week of fun scrambling up and down many of the Cuillin Munros helping out with Ron's course, we had the chance on Saturday to go out climbing in the sun.
We walked and scrambled up the Sgumain Stone Shoot then over and down into Coir' a' Ghrunnda to the climbs on the sunny Thearlaich-Dubh cliffs. We had picked out three possiblities one of which was the very appealling Grand Diedre.
I got the first pitch and took the direct variation up the corner - tricky! Ron led the pitch above up the awesome corner of the route and the pitch above took us up to just above the Thearlaich Dubh Gap.
Lovely climbing on excellent rock. The friction of the gabbro was just perfect for the bridging moves needed to get up the corner.
The midges attacked us on Saturday night back at Glenbrittle campsite so with a bit of a change in the weather coming in, we headed back east.
Off to the Alps for the summer soon but hoping for some more good weather next week and some more climbing before we go.
