Ice, sun and blue sky

Today Ron and I climbed Misere at Alpe d'Huez with Ian along as photographer. The route was an interesting line and a lot steeper than it first appeared!

Very Scottish weather in La Grave

The weekend was mild and windy so not good for climbing but today the forecast was colder so Ron and I set off to climb Colere du Ciel. The mist came in as we started up the route then snow as we reached the upper pitches. The ice was enjoyable though it did take a bit of clearing on the last pitch. We were lucky to have the route to ourselves.

An ice day!

There's not a lot of ice around in the La Grave area just now but if you look in the right places then there is a lot of fun to be had. We climbed on La Nuit Sera Fraiche today.
The weather is a bit up and down but that just means if it's not a climbing day then we go skiing!

Hindleap Warren winter skills

The Hindleap Warren guys and girls quite literally threw themselves into their winter skills day with Talisman Mountaineering. Lots of enthusiasm, a great day out and sheltered from the winds though we did get a bit blown about on the way back which just added to the experience! Lennie from Hindleap Warren was my helpful assistant.

A lovely day on Cairngorm

After a very blowy day yesterday, it was great to be out in fantastic weather for our trip into Coire an t-Sneachda. We made out way up on to Windy Col on good snow for the crampons then continued on to the summit of Cairngorm enjoying the views. The day finished up with some digging of emergency shelters and I think if I had left the guys to it, they would have been digging all night!

A goggle day!

A bit blustery today but a good experience for the first day of the Talisman Mountaineering course. The forecast looks less windy for tomorrow thankfully!
