Coire an Lochain - Sidewinder

Another fantastic day on Cairngorm so Ron and I went in to Coire an Lochain to find a climb. We climbed Sidewinder which Ron had climbed many years ago but I hadn't been up. The way the route meandered about the crag was fun and gave great climbing. This time we were lucky to follow another team so some of the gear cracks and belays were cleared of the rime and ice but not many! A great day out and more to come...!
It was one of those days that Aviemore stayed in the gloom of the mist and fog and the best place to be was out on the hills!

Coire an t-Sneachda - Western Rib

Ron and I went back in to Coire an t-Sneachda for another great day with even less wind than yesterday and even that was very little. We had a few options but decided to go up the first pitch of Goat Track Gully then up left on to Western Rib. The route was thick with rime ice and even more so than Pot of Gold yesterday. Lots of clearing was necessary to shift some of the foot long rime icicles.

Coire an t-Sneachda - Pot of Gold

A beautiful day to be out climbing in Coire an t-Sneachda. We climbed Pot of Gold on Mess of Potage with lots of rime ice on the rock and a very atmospheric sky.

A blue sky day at Cairngorm

Another great day out climbing on Cairngorm with nobody else around. Loads of folk were out skiing enjoying great conditions on the slopes. We enjoyed a lovely climb with big blocks, good axe placements and fantastic scenery. I'll leave to Ron to see if he says where we were!
